The bilingual exhibition catalogue (German and English) documents Syowia Kyambi's first solo exhibition in Germany. The German-Kenyan artist deals with identity, gender, memory, colonialism and takes a critical stance on the power structures that shape the construction of the self in the postcolonial world. In addition to the photographic documentation of the exhibition, the publication contains an introductory foreword by Ingmar Lähnemann as well as a statement by Syowia Kyambi and an essay by Alejandro Perdomo Daniels. In her text, the artist discusses the role and significance of the Kaunda suit in her most recent work. Alejandro Perdomo Daniels' essay deals with the concept of Double Consciousness and relates it to Kyambi's artistic work.
